About me

I grew up in the Midwest, but am a West Coaster at heart. I am currently a student at the University of Oregon Robert D. Clark Honors College majoring in journalism and international studies. I'm passionate about international arts journalism and using writing and photography to tell the stories of creators around the world. I was a 2013 editorial intern at Bitch Media, where I continue to work as a freelancer. In 2015, I dove into international journalism as an intern at Today Newspaper in Accra, Ghana. I wrote and photographed stories on local culture and politics and profiled up-and-coming DJ Sonny Lewis. I also interviewed Nana Ama, one of the few Ghanaian journalists covering LGBTQA issues. I then traveled to Morocco and wrote profiles on contemporary artist Safaa Erruas and political cartoonist Khalid Gueddar. At the University of Oregon, I report on the Pacific Northwest music scene as a freelance writer for Emerald Media, the student-run newspaper. I am also the editor of the University’s fashion blog, Dressed Up Ducks. Currently, I work as a writing coach through the School of Journalism and Communication's Writing Central. Next year, I will serve as the managing editor of Ethos, the university’s multicultural magazine. My goal is to spend my life traveling and forging connections around the world.
